Answer:

150 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Length of Copper wire =240 m

Let the length of the steel wire in the beginning be 's'.

Solution:

Now given that;

after 60 m was cut off it was twice the length of steel wire

So we can say that;

Length of Copper wire after 60 m was cutoff =240 -60 = 180240−60=180

So we can say that;

2s=1802s=180

Dividing both side by 2 we get;

\begin{gathered}\frac{2s}{2}=\frac{180}{2}\\\\s=90\ m\end{gathered}

2s

=

2

180

s=90 m

Length of the steel wire in the beginning = 90 m

We need to find how long copper wire was than steel wire in the beginning.

So we will now subtract length of steel wire from length of the copper wire.

Difference between the length = 240 -90 =150\ m240−90=150 m

copper \: wire = 240 \: cm

left \: now \:  = 240 - 60 = 180cm

lenght \: of \: steel \: wire \:  =  \frac{180}{2}  \\  = 90cm

difference \: between \: lengths \\  = 240 - 90 = 150cm
