Notice that 2.1m = 210cm. 6 x 35cm = 210 cm
So each edge of the large cube is 6 * ( smaller cube edge size )
Let's describe a new unit sc = 35cm

The length of the side of the large cube is 6 sc's
Its volume is 6 * 6 * 6 sc^3 = 216 sc's
216 is the number of smaller cubes that can be obtained.
( assuming there is no waste as a result of cutting )
