Question:

  • A cuboid of dimensions 60 cm,45 cm, 50 cm. How many small cubes with sides 5cm can be placed in a given cuboid.

To Find:

  • How many small cubes with sides 5 cm can be placed in a given cuboid.

Given:

✯ Length of cuboid = 60 cm

✯ Breadth of cuboid = 45 cm

✯ Height of cuboid = 50 cm

✯ Side of cube = 5 cm

Solution:

As we know that,

  • Volume of cuboid = length × breadth × height
  • Volume of cube = (Side)³

Applying the values,

➩ Volume of cuboid = 60 × 45 × 50

Volume of cuboid = 135000 cm³

➩ Volume of small cube = 5³

➩ Volume of small cube = 5 × 5 × 5

Volume of small cube = 125 cm³

❍ Let the number of the required small cubes be x.

➩ x × 125 = 135000

➩ x = 135000/125

x = 1080

  • Therefore,1080 small cubes can be placed in the given cuboid.
