Question

A cylindrical container, open at the top, is to be  made of tin sheet. The height of the container is  1.5 m and the diameter of the base is 80 cm. If 5%  extra sheet is allowed for wastage and folds and  the tin sheet costs 350 per m2, what will be the  cost of the tin sheet for making the container ?

Answer

Base Radius = 80 cm = 0.8 m

Height = 1.5 m

The area required for the tin sheet = CSA + Area of Base

=>(2 X 22/7 X 0.8 X 1.5) + (22/7 X 0.8 X 0.8)

=  7.542 + 2.0114

= 9.4634
