A disc of radius 2m and mass 100 kg rolls on a horizontal floor. It's centre of mass has speed of 20cm/s.how much work is needed to stop it

◆ Explaination -

To stop the rolling disc, work must be done to overcome kinetic energy & rotational energy.

W = K.E. + R.E.

W = (1/2)mv² + (1/2)Iω²

W = (1/2)mv² + (1/2)mr²ω²

W = (1/2)mv² + (1/2)mv²

W = mv²

W = 100 × 0.2²

W = 4 J

Therefore, 4 J work will be required to stop the rolling disc.
