- (ii) The fertilisation of the sperm and the ovum takes place inside the Fallopian tube.
- (iii) Fertilised egg gets implanted in the endometrial lining of the uterine wall.
- (b) (i) The endometrial layer of the uterine lining thickens and forms a compact bed for receiving the zygote in case of pregnancy. It develops blood vessels, which would provide nourishment to the developing zygote.
- (b)(ii) If no zygote is formed the endometrial lining breaks and the blood along with the tissue lining is removed from the body through menstruation.
