Let x represent the number of Chickens and y represent the number of Goats. Then we can get the following equations:
X + Y = 90--------(1) Note that each chicken or goat has only one head.
2X + 4Y = 224-------(2) Note that each chicken has two legs while each goat has 4 legs.
Multiply the equation (1) with 2 and subtract from the equation (2), we get
2X + 4Y - 2X - 2Y = 224 - 2×(90)
2Y = 224 - 180 = 44
Y = 22, accordingly X + 22 = 90 or 68
So, there are 68 Chickens and 22 Goats.
