Force = mass × acceleration

500 N = 1000 × a

a = 500/1000

a = 0.5 m/s²

Acceleration = change in velocity / time

Change in velocity = final velocity - initial velocity.

Let the initial velocity = v

Final velocity = 0

Δ Velocity = 0 - V

Time = t

Therefore :

a = - v/t

0.5 = - v/t

We take the absolute value for the v.

0.5 = v/t

Distance = speed × time.

64 =vt

t = 64/v

Substituting in the acceleration function we have :

0.5 = v × v/64

0.5 = v²/64

V² = 32

V = √32

V = 5.657 m/s

t = 64/5.657 = 11.31 seconds
