A fraction becomes 1/3 when 1 is subtracted from the numerater and it becomes 1/4 when 8 is added to it's denominator. Find the fraction.

using Eq1

3(x-1)=y--------Eq3

Using Eq2

4x=y+8

Putting the value of Y in above Eq.

4x=3(x-1)+8

4x=3x-3+8

4x-3x=5

x=5

Putting the Value of X in Eq3

3(5-1)=Y

3*4=Y

12=Y

So Value of X is 5 and Y is 12

Resulting Fraction is \frac{5}{12}
