A gardener moves a lawn roller through a distance of 100 m with a force of 50 N. Calculate his wages, if he is to be paid 10 paise for doing 25 J of work. It is given that applied force is inclined at 60° to the direction of motion.

Given :

  • Distance, s = 100 m
  • Force, F = 50 N
  • Inclined angle, θ = 60°
  • Money getting per 25 J of work = 10 paise

To Find :

  • Wages of worker = ?

Solution :

We know that :

 \underline{\boxed{\pink{\bf Work \: done = Force \times \times distance \times cos\theta}}}

By filling values :

 \sf : \implies W = 50 \times 100 \times cos 60\degree

 \sf : \implies W = 5000 \times \dfrac{1}{2}

 \sf : \implies W = \cancel{\dfrac{5000}{2}}

 \sf : \implies W = 2500J

Now, Wages for 25 J of work = 10 paise = Rs. 0.1

 \sf : \implies Wages \: for \: 2500J \: of \: work =Rs. \: \dfrac{0.1}{25} \times 2500

 \sf : \implies Wages \: for \: 2500J \: of \: work =Rs. \: \dfrac{1}{250} \times 2500

 \sf : \implies Wages \: for \: 2500J \: of \: work =Rs. \: \cancel{\dfrac{2500}{250}}

 \sf : \implies Wages \: for \: 2500J \: of \: work = Rs. \: 10

 \underline{ \sf  Hence, \: Wages \: of  \: gardener \: are \:  \pink{Rs. \: 10}}
