Solution,

The 10 days were already passed,so the remaining days for the initial number of soldiers = (40-10) = 30 days

New number of soldiers = 460+140 = 600

Now, we can easily solve this mathematical problem by using the normal arithmetic method.

There is food for,

460 soldiers for = 30 days

1 soldier for = 30×460 days

600 soldiers for = 30×460/600 = 23 days

Hence, the food supply will last for 23 days.
