a garrison of 2500 men contains provisions for 200days. After 20days 1000 men went away to another place. how long will the remaining provisions last for remaining party?​

The provision will last for 300 days.

Solution:

The total number of men in the garrison =  2500

The total number of days food will be available = 200  

The total number of meals available for all the men for the given days = 2500 \times 200 = 500000

The meals required for 20 days = 20 \times 2500 = 50000

The remaining meals = 500000 – 50000 = 450000

After 20 days 1000 men went away, so 2500 – 1000 = 1500

So for 1500 men 450000 meals are available.  

The number of days the provision will last = \frac{450000}{1500} = 300.

Result:

The provision will last for 300 days.
