“The Cat and the Pain-killer” is the story that is featured on the 12th chapter of the novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”.

Tom was not physically ill, but he was very sad due to the absence of his friend Becky Thatcher.

His aunt was obsessed with medicines and she decided to give a pain-killer to cure Tom’s melancholy mood.

Tom Sawyer did not want to take that syrup given by his aunt.

So he poured that medicine to a crack on the floor of the sitting room, to show that he was enthusiastically taking that syrup.
