ANSWER :

(a) Add sodium hydrogen carbonate. Ethanol will not react. Ethanoic acid will give brisk effervescence due to carbon dioxide.

(b) Pure ethanoic acid exist as solid like glaciers at 291 K, therefore, called glacial acetic acid.

For the presence of ethanol we can add sodium to it . Brisk effervescence is seen and the gas liberated is hydrogen which will burn with a pop sound

For Ethanoic acid add sodium carbonate to it it will form brisk effervescence which turns lime water milky
