A gold chain when packed in a decorative gift box weighs 80 1/6 grams .If the chain weighs 26 7/12 grams .what is the weight of the box?

total weight = 80 1/6 = 481/6 grams
chain weight = 26 7/12 = 319/12 grams

weight of the box = total weight - chain weight
=481/6 - 319/12
=(962 - 319)/12
= 643 / 12 grams
= 53.59 grams

weight of empty the box = weight of gift box - chain weight
=80 1/6 - 26 7/12
= 481/6 - 319/12
=(962-319)/12
=643/12
=53 7/12grams

swathika23: you made a small mistake in subtracting 962 - 319 .it is 643 not 543
