kishamuthoni: the answer is a radical for example a sulphate is a radical and it is composed of sulphur and oxygen(SO4) with an ionisation energy of -2 but still reacts as a single unit. Other radicals include nitrates,nitrites,any radical attached to a hydrogen ion and the ammonium ion in valency 1, sulphites and carbonates in valency 2 and phosphates in valency 3
