Mass of bullet=15/1000kg=0.015kg

Velocity of bullet=100m/sec

Mass of gun=2kg

Recoil velocity of gun=? (Suppose x)

M of bullet* velocity of bullet= M of gun* recoil velocity of gun

0.015*100=2x

1.5=2x

x=1.5/2

0.75 m/s

Amit0503: The correct answer is -0.75 m/s.

Answer:

Recoil Velocity = -0.75 m/s

Explanation:

Mass of gun (M1) = 2 kg

Mass of bullet (M2) = 15 g = 0.015 kg

Velocity of bullet (V2) = 100 m/s

Velocity of gun (V1) = ?

Using the law of conservation of momentum

M1×V1 = -M2×V2

2×V1 = -0.015× 100

2V1 = -1.5

V1 = -1.5/2

V1 = -0.75 m/s
