A hemi depression is cut out from one face of a cuboical block of side 7 cm, such that the diameter of the hemisphere is equal to the edge of the cube . find the surface area of remaining solid.

Edge of cube (A) = 7 cm
Diameter of hemisphere = 7 cm
Radius of hemisphere = D/2 = 7/2 cm
Surface area of remaining solid = Total surface area of the cube - Area of the top of hemispherical part + CSA of hemisphere
=> 6A² - πR² + 2πR² = 6A²+πR²
=> ( 6 × 7 × 7 + 22/7 × 7/2 × 7/2 )
=> ( 294 + 38.5) cm².
=> 332.5 cm².
