here it is shown that electric field is thrown the flat surface.

according to concept of electric flux , it is the amount of electric lines of force in a specific area.

in diagram, it is clearly shown that amount of electric lines of force enter into the flat surface = amount of electric lines of force leave from the curved surface.

so, if electric flux through flat surface = EA = E(πr²)

then, electric flux through curved surface = - electric flux through flat surface = -E(πr²)

now electric flux through the closed surface = electric flux through flat surface + electric flux through curved surface = E(πr²) - E(πr²) = 0
