The postmaster would have felt bad that lencho didn't have any faith in humans but the postmaster wouldn't have stopped helping others after this incident as the character of the postmaster in the story suggests that he is a very kind man who doesn't want any credits unlike most of the people and he would be ready to help another person again even if he doesn't gets any credits for his good deeds

According to me, the postmaster would have felt bad because of the fact that Lencho called the employees a bunch of crooks. No, he wouldn't have stopped helping others because changing the nature of someone who is kind-hearted is not so easy. He would still have readily helped anyone who he found in need.
