The number of primary producers do not necessarily depend on the number of tertiary consumers in a grassland ecosystem. But then proper adequate number of primary producers are very much essential in every ecosystem. Calculations suggest that, we need 60 primary producer for 6 tertiary consumers.

  • On a broader scale of calculation it is found that for one top level carnivore, 10 primary producers are required.
  • So, on calculating for six tertiary consumer we need 60 primary producer.
  • Primary producers are mainly plants and the tress in the grassland ecosystem.
