He was "Present" for 13 day, which makes a total of 780 rupees but being absent for 7 remaining days, he gets 7 x -5 = -35 rupees, thus getting 780 - 35 = 745!!
Enjoy!!

Let the no. of days he is present be X and no. of day he is absent be Y
THEN
X + Y = 20 (TOTAL DAYS OF WORK)
NOW,
MONEY HE EARNED IN X DAYS = 60X (Rs 60
for each day)
MONEY HE EARNED IN Y DAYS = -5Y (Rs -5 FOR EACH DAY)
NOW,
60X - 5Y = 745
60X + 60Y -65Y = 745
60(X + Y) -65Y = 745
60*20 - 65Y = 745
65Y = 455
Y = 7
X = 13
therefore,
he was present 13 days and he was absent 7 days
THEN
X + Y = 20 (TOTAL DAYS OF WORK)
NOW,
MONEY HE EARNED IN X DAYS = 60X (Rs 60
for each day)
MONEY HE EARNED IN Y DAYS = -5Y (Rs -5 FOR EACH DAY)
NOW,
60X - 5Y = 745
60X + 60Y -65Y = 745
60(X + Y) -65Y = 745
60*20 - 65Y = 745
65Y = 455
Y = 7
X = 13
therefore,
he was present 13 days and he was absent 7 days
