Answer:

Area of remaining portion of the lawn will be   = 2184 m^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the Lawn be Rectangular in shape

Given :

Length of lawn = 80m

Breadth of Lawn = 30 m

Through the center of the lawn paths 2m wide, run at right angles

The Length of horizontal Path = 80m

The Breadth of horizontal Path = 2m

The Length of Vertical Path = 30 m

The Breadth of Vertical Path = 2 m

We know that ,

Area of Rectangle is Length * breadth

So, the area of lawn = Length of lawn * Breadth of lawn

                                   = 80*30 = 2400 m^{2}

Area of Horizontal Path = Length of path * breadth of path

                                       = 80*2m = 160m^{2}

Area of vertical Path = Length of path * breadth of path

                                   = 30* 2 = 60 m^{2}

Area of Overlapping path = 2*2 = 4m^{2}

So, the area of remaining portion of lawn =

( area of lawn) -{ (Area of Horizontal Path) + (Area of vertical Path) -(Area of Overlapping path)}

= 2400 -( 160 + 60 - 4)

=2400 - 216

= 2184 m^{2}

the area of remaining portion of lawn = 2184m^{2}
