Let distance in kilometers be x, time taken and speed in first instance be t and v respectively.

Let t1 be the time he takes in second instance and t2 be the time he takes in third instance.

A/Q

t1 = x / v1. But t1 = t - 40 and v1 = v + 3.

You have to convert 40 minutes into hours because v is in kmph

t - 2/3 = x / v + 3.

Similarly for third instance

t + 2/3 = x / v - 3.2 ( Convert 2 mph into kmph )

Solve the following equation you will get your answer.
