A man donated 5% of his monthly income to a charity and deposited 12% of the rest in a bank.If he has RS 11704 left with him,what is his monthly income?

We shall not consider the 5% since it has no comparative.
Therefore, let his income be y.
12% of y = Rs 11704
12/100 * y = RS 11704
12y/100 = RS 11704
Multiply both sides by the fraction to remove the fraction.
12y/100 =RS 11704*100
12y = RS 1170400
12y/12 = RS 1170400/12
= 97533.3
