A man encashed a cheque for Rs.600 from a bank. The bank pays him money in 10- rupee notes and 5- rupee notes only, totalling 72. The ratio of the number of 10- rupee notes to that of 5- rupee notes is?

|| ✰✰ ANSWER ✰✰ ||

Let Number of 10 Rs. notes are x and number of 5Rs. Notes are y .

Given that, Total Notes were 72.

So,

→ x + y = 72. ------------ Equation (1)

Now, given that, he withdraw Rs.600 From bank,,

So,

10x + 5y = 600 --------- Equation (2)

Multiplying Equation (1) with 5 and than subtracting it from Equation (2) , we get,

(10x+5y) - 5(x+y) = 600 - 5*72

→ 10x - 5x + 5y - 5y = 600 - 360

→ 5x = 240

Dividing both sides by 5,

x = 48

So, y = 72 - 48 = 24 .

Ratio of Rs.10 notes and Rs.5 notes = 48 : 24 = 2 :1 .

Hence, Required Ratio is 2:1.
