Solution :-

There is a mistake in this question. The number of feet should be 140 instead of 'feer 12 : 35', because I have solved this question earlier asked by another student.

Let the number of hens be 'h' and the number of cows be 'c'.

The number of heads is 48 (Given)

Then, h + c = 48 ..............(1)

A hen has 2 legs and a cow has 4 legs.

Then, 2h + 4c = 140 

 h + 2c = 70 ..........(2)

Subtracting (1) from (2)

     h + 2c = 70
     h +  c  = 48
    -   -        -
____________
            c  = 22
____________

So, number of cows is 22

Putting the value of c = 22 in (1)

h + c = 48

h + 22 = 48

h = 48 - 22

h = 26

So, number of hens is 26.

So, option (b) is correct
