A man holds a spherical shaving mirror of radius of curvature 60 cm and focal length 30cm, at a distance of 15cm from his nose. find the position of image,and calculate the magnification.

Distance from the Object (u) = 15 cm
According to the formula: 1/v + 1/u = 1/f ; 1/v = 1/f-1/u = 1/30+1/15
Position of the image = (v) = 30 cm
Magnification (m) = -v/u = -30/(-15) = 2.
The image formed is virtual, erect and magnified.
