Let the age of the son be x
Father's current age 2x
12 years ago fathers age 2x-12.............(i)
12 years ago sons gae x-12
According to the question
Before 12 years ago fathers age was 3(x-12)...(ii)

From equal (i) and (ii)
2x-12 = 3(x-12)
So 2x-12 = 3x - 36
So 3x - 2x = - 12 + 36
So x = 24....sons age
2x = 24 X 2 = 48........ Fathers age
