Answer:

Explanation:

=> A man on the ground wants to climb to the top of a vertical pole of 13m tall. He starts when time, t = 0 sec.

=> he climbs 5m in 1 sec and then slip downward 3m in the next sec.

∴ time t = 1 s , Height = 5m

when t = 2 s, height = 5m - 3m = 2m

He again climbs 5m in 1 sec and slip by 3m, means this process repeats.

=>So, his position or hight at different time can be calculated as below:

t = 3s , height = 2m + 5m = 7m

t = 4s, height = 7m - 3m =4m

t = 5s, height = 4m + 5m = 9m

t = 6s, height = 9m - 3m = 6m

t = 7s, height = 6m + 5m = 11m

t= 8s, height = 11m - 3m = 8m

t = 9s, height = 8m + 5m =13 m

Thus, he will take 9 sec to reach the top of a vertical pole.
