A marine clam is mistakenly added to a freshwater aquarium. What will happen to the clam and why?

A marine clam is mistakenly added to a freshwater aquarium. What will happen to the clam and why? Theclam will die because since the clam is saltier inside than its surrounding freshwater, water will rush in to create an equilibrium and the clam could burst.
