A motorcycle is going on an overbridge of radius R. The driver maintains a constant speed. As the motorcycle is ascending on the overbridge, the normal force on it increases.

Explanation:

If we resolve the forces at a given position acting on the motorcycle while ascending the over-bridge, and then balancing we find that

mg cos\theta -N =  \frac{mv^{2} }{r}

N = mgcos\theta -  \frac{mv^2}{r}

where mg cosθ is the resolved force due to weight of the motorcycle

N = Normal force acting

\frac{mv^2}{r} = Centripetal force

Here the quantities v, m, and r constant, So Normal force depends on angle θ and cosθ increase from 90 to 0.

Hence, as the motorcycle ascends on the over-bridge, the normal force increases.

Therefore the correct answer is Option (a) increases.
