Let us assume x and y are the digits of the number.

Therefore, the two-digit number is 10x + y

Given:

y = 1/2x ------------1

Also given:

x + y = 6 -------------2

Substitute the value of y from eqn1 in eqn 2

x + (1/2)x = 6

(3/2)x = 6

3x = 12

x = 4

Therefore, y = 1/2 * 4 = 2

The two-digit number is = 10x + y = (10*4) + 2 = 42
