A particle having the same charge as of electron moves in a circular path of radius 0.5 cm under the influence of a magnetic field of 0.5 T. If an electric field of 100 V/m makes it to move in a straight path, then the mass of the particle is (given charge of electron = 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ C)
(A) 9.1 × 10⁻³¹ kg (B) 1.6 × 10⁻²⁷ kg
(C) 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ kg (D) 2.0 × 10⁻²⁴ kg

The mass of particle is 2*10^-24kg

Given

Radius =0.5 cm

Magnetic field=0.5T

Whenever a particle is in magnetic field and moves in circle centripetal force acts on that particle

Charge given=1.6*10^-19C

Mv^2/R= qvb

Therefore mv =qRb

Also from electric force

qE= qvB

q gets cancel from both sides

v=E/B

M*E/B=qrb

m=qrb^2/E

=1.6*10^-19*0.5*10^-2*0.5*0.5/100

=1.6*125*10^-3*10^-4*10^-19

=200*10^-26 kg

=2*10^-24 kg

ie option (d)
