Here y = distance
y=4(t)^2-12t+9
by derivative method,
y= d/dt (4t^2-12t+9)
=d/dt (4t^2) -d/dt (12t) +d/dt (9)
=4*2t - 12 + 0
=8t - 12
when the particle is at the origin, then the distance is 0
=>y=0
=>8t-12=0
=>8t=12
=>t=12/8=3/2=1.5 sec
