As a particle of mass 100g is thrown vertically upwards with a speed of 5m/s the kinetik energy of the particle is totally converted in to the potential energy at the maximum height.
So the work done by the force of gravity during the time the particle goes up = ½ m v2
Work done by the force of gravity during the time the particle goes up = ½ × 0.1 × 52
Work done by the force of gravity during the time the particle goes up
= ½ × 0.1 × 5 × 5 = 5 J
