Side of larger square = 5m

Area of path = Area of larger square - area of smaller square .

1 side of larger square is = 5cm

Now,

1 m path constructed all around inside larger square .

Side of smaller square = side of larger square -2×1

Side of smaller square = side of larger square -2×1= 5-2

Side of smaller square = side of larger square -2×1= 5-2=3 cm .

Larger square side = a

Larger square side = a = 5 cm

Area of larger square = a×a

5 \times 5 \\  =  {25m}^{2}

side of smaller square = a

side of smaller square = a= 3 m

area of smaller square =

3 \times 3 \\  {9m}^{2}

Area of path = Area of larger square - area of smaller square

= 25-9

 {16m}^{2}
