A path 6 m wide runs inside a square park of side 90 m along its boundary. Find the area of the path, the cost of tiling the path at $50 per sq m, laying the grass on the remaining area at the rate of $30 per sq m.

Plzz... explain with points how to do.

It'll be easier if you draw the figure first. Please check the one I've drawn.


It is found that a side of the square inside

= 90-(6+6)

= 78 m

Area of the path = area of square park- area of square

inside

= 90^2 - 78^2

= 2016 sq.m

Cost for tiling the path = 2016 ÷ 50

= $40.32

Cost for laying grass on the remaining area

= 78^2 ÷ 30

= $202.8
