lets take, the breadth to be 'b', the length become '3b'. now, area of the whole rectangular field including the path become, (3b^2). now, area of the field excluding the path, the length now becomes '3b-10' the breadth becomes 'b-10'. the area of the dinner field becomes, (3b-10)x(b-10) = (3b^2-40b+100). the area of the path becomes 3b^2 - (3b^2-40b+100) =500. so, 40b=500+100, 40b=600, b=60/4=15. the breadth of the field is 15, length is 3xb=3x15=45.
