A patient with soar throat is often advised to gargle with warm salt solution.Give reason as to why this is done.

Answer: Warm salt solution is usually advised to the patients with sore throat because salt has a tendency to draw moisture and promotes osmosis. So it draws moisture from the bacteria present in the throat as well as from the swollen tissue (inflammation) in the throat making it dehydrated.

This results in an environment which is not hospitable for the bacterial growth thereby relieving the patient from the sore throat.
