A person goes from A to B with a uniform speed of 8 km/h and comes back with a uniform speed of 12 km/h

Find average speed:

V_{av} = \frac{2 v_1 v_2}{v_1+v_2} \\ \\ V_{av} = \frac{2 \times 8 \times 12}{8 + 12} \\ \\ V_{av} = \frac{2 \times 8 \times 12}{20} \\ \\ V_{av} = 9.6 \: kmph

Time taken from A to B = 10/2 = 5 hours

Distance between A and B= Vav × t = 9.6 × 5 = 48 km
