Solutions :-

Given :
Length of rod = 7/8 m

After broken the rod into two pieces,
Length of one piece of rod = 1/4 m

Let the length of the other piece be x

$= > x + \frac{1}{4} = \frac{7}{8} \\ \\ = > x = \frac{7}{8} - \frac{1}{4} \\ \\ = > x = \frac{7 - 2}{8} = \frac{5}{8}$

Hence,
The length of the other piece of rod = 5/8 m
