Given:- A positive number is 5 times another number. If 21 is added to both the numbers, then one of the new numbees becomes twice the other new number.

To Find:- The two numbers.

Answer :- Let us take first number be x , then the second number = 5x . Now according to second condition, If 21 is added to both the numbers, then one of the new numbees becomes twice the other new number. So ,

  • New number 1 = x + 21.
  • New number 2 = 5x + 21.

=> ( 5x + 21 ) =2( x + 21) .

=> 5x + 21 = 2x + 42

=> 5x - 2x = 42 - 21.

=> 3x = 21

=> x = 21/3

=> x = 7 .

Hence , first number = x = 7 , second number = 5x = 35 .

Hence the two numbers are 7 and 35 .
