A potential difference of 6V is applied to two resistors of 3ohm and 6ohm connected in parallel. Calculate:
i) The combined resistance
ii) The current flowing in the main circuit
iii) The current flowing in the 3ohm
resistor.

Answer:

The combined resistance i.e, net resistance =3*6/3+6=2 ohm

current flowing in main circut i.e net current =v/R=6/2=3 A

As current chooses path of least resistance, therefore maximum current will be flowing through 3 ohm=6/3=2A

Current flowing through 6 ohm =6/6=1 A
