a profit of 5% is made by selling cloth at rupees 63 per metre. what will be the loss or gain by selling it at rupees 52. 50 per metre?

5% profit on 63, so cost price is 60.

If sold at 52.50, would incur a loss of 7.50 per meter.

If 105% loss is corresponds to 63

then 100% corresponds to what (assume x)


If we cross multiply,

then,x=63×100/105

therefore x=60



Now 60 is original prize.


And 52.5 is 87.5% of 60


Now 87.5% is 12.5% less then 100


Therefore loss is 12.5%
