Step-by-step explanation:

Concept :

The concept of fraction will helped to solve the question.Any number of equal parts is represented by a fraction, which also represents a portion of a whole.

Given:

The pump can fill \frac{3}{8} of a tank in 1 hour and this fills the same amount every hour.

To find:

We have to get the fraction that can be filled by the pump in 5 hours.

Solution:

To get the amount of  5 hours we have to multiply 5 with the amount of 1 hour.

The pump can fill in  1 hour is  \frac{3}{8} of a tank .

This can fill in 5 hour is 5 \times\frac{3}{18} =\frac{15}{18} .

The correct option is \frac{15}{18}=\frac{5}{6}

Therefore, \frac{5}{6} of the of the tank can the pump fill in 5 hours .
