Solution

Given :-

  • A railway engine is travelling along a circular railway track of radius 1500 meters with a speed of 66 km/hour.

To Find :-

  • The angle turned by the engine in 10 seconds.

Step-by-Step-Explaination :-

Speed = 66 km /hr

1 km = 1000 m

1 hr = 3600 seconds

Speed in m/s = \frac{66\times 1000}{3600}  = \frac{110}{6}m/s

Time = 10 seconds

As we know that :-

Formula of distance = Speed × Time

Putting the values

Distance = \frac{110}{6}\times 10

Distance = \frac{1100}{6}

Distance = \frac{110}{6}m

Length of arc = \frac{1100}{6}

Radius of track is 1500 m

As we know that :-

Formula of length of arc =  \frac{ \theta }{360}  \times 2\pi \: r

\frac{1100}{6} = \frac{ \theta}{360}\times 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 1500

  \theta = 7

Hence ,

The angle in degrees turned by the engine in 10 second is 7 °.
