A ray of light is travelling from air to water. If the refractive index of water is 1.33 and velocity of light in the air is 3 x 108 m/s, then what would be the speed of light ray when it is passing through the water?

Answer:2.25×10^8 m/s

Explanation:the refractive index of any medium with respect to air is ratio of velocity of light in air and velocity of light in medium.

Hence, velocity in water is equal to velocity in air divided by refractive index.
