If the angle of incidence is less than 48°, Simple refraction will occur and the light ray will bend away from the normal.
If the angle of incidence is more than 48°, Total Internal Reflection will occur.
If the angle of incidence is equal to 48°, angle of refraction will be 90° and the refracted ray will pass through the surface of water.

Conditions for Total Internal Reflection:
1. The ray of light should pass from denser medium to rarer (here, water to air).

2. The angle of incidence should be greater than the critical angle.
