A rectangular field is 32m by 18m. two paths run at right angles through the centre of the field.the longer path is 1.5m wide and the shorter path is 1m wide. Determine the total area of the two paths

Solution:-
Length of the longer path = 32 meter and width of the longer path = 1.5 meter
Area of the longer path = L*B
= 32*1.5 
Area of the longer path = 48 sq m
Length of the shorter path = 18 meter and width of the shorter path = 1 meter
Area = 18*1
Area of the shorter path = 18 sq m
Total area of the two paths = 48 + 18 
Total area = 66 sq m

Golda: Area of the rectangular portion at the center should be subtracted from 66 sq m. Area of the rectangular part at the center = 1.5*1 = 1.5 sq m Total area of the paths = 66 - 1.5 = 64.5 sq m. Answer.
